Who Anish is and how he came to finance.
He learned the markets on the sales floor, then built a firm to take growing companies public.
Anish Sawarnya studied commerce at Patna University, then moved to Mumbai for a master's in business administration from Mumbai University. He began in sales and marketing at Indiabulls Group, then spent close to nine years at Anand Rathi, where he won awards in sales, marketing and research and held the top position in the firm three years running.
In 2013 he set up his own investment firm for SME and MSME companies that want to go public. He works across equity, debt, IPO funding and the syndication of debt and equity rounds. Media and entertainment is where he has raised the most money. In the last three years he has also invested directly in food and hospitality.
